When designing things for my props for my animation one of the things that i was designing was a ankh and when I was doing this I got two pictures and then combined them and made my own version out of them.
With the script that I started, made me think of having the first bit of the animation as an introduction. To be more specific the day before the big event and also this gives me a chance to introduce my characters.
I decided because there isn't a lot of time to turn an animation story in to an animated trailer.
Because the time for doing the animation comes so fast and I have wasted time on doing to much for example the script i did 5 pages which is equivalent to about 5 minutes and my trailer is only going to be a minute. I have decided that I will only show 3 scenes that is the scene when he is waking up, him sleeping and fight scene.
In Marshal's lesson we were told to make a 3-D model of 1 of our characters, I decided to make an evil villain from my trailer. The first steps that I did was, making four equal triangles and having a square base for the bottom. Putting all of these together allowed me to make a pyramid After this I tried to add legs with some copper wire and I cut them equally to try and make four legs. Although I did this they did not stay up unfortunately. And there is no way to make them stand up by its self.
My Narrative
I decided that I was going to create some of these items with the hieroglyphics I found 2 pictures on the internet and then I combined them and drew them out into one object and I had the idea to use this in my animation because I was going to make that the object that they have to go and collect.
When doing the proposal I thought of the idea, the idea was going to be about a boy who goes to school on Friday the next day is going to be his birthday. The reason why it isn't his birthday on Friday is because this gives a chance to introduce the characters. This way when its his birthday you know the characters. On Saturday on his birthday he gets this Ancient Egyptian present which is meant to be a game that they purchased from Ibay (Ebay). After that the main character and his friends put on the bracelets and they get teleported to Ancient Egypt and when they spawn in everything was gonna be pixelated like a classic RPG. They spawn and there is a list in front of them and then there was gonna be a list of the items that they would have to collect. They collect two items easily one of items is a ring and when one of that characters puts it on they turn into a stick figure. After they get to the last stage and they can collect the final item but there are four enemies they are all charged at this time and they all use there super moves and they 1 hit K.O the enemies. After they collect the last item they return to the guys house thinking it was a quick daydream until they all consult each other about it and they realize they didn't and also they realized that no time past when they were in the game.
When making the proposal I wasn't sure if I should do an animation or an game but keep the same concept. After a while of wondering what one to choose, I chose an animation at the end after I finished the animation I thought to myself that I should have done a game because it might have been easier for me since I like the coding aspect and in my opinion I think that there is less work to make a game and can be achieved to make a good game quicker compared to making an animation of the same quality. But when it comes to making a game it is only faster if you know what you are doing.
In the pre-production there was many concept arts that I made for the main character and the one that I personally think is the best I couldn't use because I was thinking that it would take a lot to make each frame by frame, so I decided that I would go with a more simpler drawing. And after that the drawing was still to complicated so I decided to make it more simpler. The final drawing was more easier and that made it easy to all the frame by frame during the production. I took advantage of the next scene where they are in the RPG and that was because they are in a game they wouldn't look the same and the view is different.
I made a script for the animation. The script is very long and I know I need to cut down. After when I started there was so many changes that I had to do because I was short on time and there wasn't a lot of time to finish everything So I decided that I was not going to use the script because there is too much to film and then I have to animate the characters speaking in time with the sound.
Script
For the class room I made the chalkboard and the chair a lot longer than the canvas so I can tween it sliding across and this way it gives a sort of parallax effect. This way all I had to do frame by frame is the snoring of the boy and the teacher changing face expression. I decided to do the chair close and the parallax so it looks like there is more to the scene instead of showing just the ZZZs of him snoring. The parallax for the chalkboard was done so that it looks like he is walking and it adds more depth to the movement.
In the production I looked at different pictures of pyramids and the results that came up were pyramids in the desert and this gave me the idea of how the RPG fight scene should look like. I did the same thing with the people that I did for the main character for the school scene where he sleeps and it looks like hes on the table. So instead of putting him leaning on the shape I put him on the middle to give that effect, when it came to the fighting scene I decided to do the same thing.
I made a sound track that had an Egyptian theme I made it using lots of different sounds and put them together. The sound track lasts at least 5 minutes because I was prepared to have a full animation so I had to shorten it so that it could be the same length as the trailer.
The soundtrack
After I did the class room scene I knew I didn't have enough time to finish the whole animation so I skipped some scenes the get the main fight scene and instead of being an whole animation I changed it into a trailer.
The first scene that I made was the title screen and when I made this I gave it the title of Friday Because of it was going to start on Friday. I created a pyramid and place it upside down with a Horus eye in the middle. and in the corners, I covered it with a dark purple radial gradient. For the colors of the pyramid I gave it a dark yellow color and for the Horus eye I gave it a red, purple and blue. When I put the Horus eye in the middle I didn't completely color it and I left it with the out line. The way that I got the outline for the Horus eye so good, I got a picture and put on a layer under and drew above it to trace it and then changed it to my likings.
After this for a smooth transition I decided to make it fade out and then make the next scene fade in which is the alarm scene. I thought instead of making the alarm ring straight away I decided to make it tick for a seconds so people can realize what is happening at due time. When it rings I drew a hand and arm so you can see that turn off the alarm clock and these were both animated frame by frame. I also added some veins although they are quite hard to see this is along the wrist. When I drew the hand I used a reference from google a picture of a hand and this really helped me get the hand done.
For the skin color I used a gradient of a pink and a lighter shade of pink and this gave this light pink color for the skin. For the table I used a gradient of orange and a lighter orange and this gives a pearlescent look to it and makes it look shiny and for the clock placement I put it in the shape to make it look like it's on it at an angle. When the clock went off I did a squiggly line to show the alarm clock going off since I was gonna do all the sounds at the end.
For the second scene I started drawing the table and the and the chair leg for this I just put two rectangles together. When I did this I drew it longer so that the I could tween it going up and it would look like it is really close up to the table. While doing this I stretched the floor frame by frame so that it also looked like it got further away. After this I drew the main character sleeping on the table and this was going to be at the start where he gets pranked by his teacher and peers. The way that he was going to get pranked his by his teacher pretending that he was in trouble when he wasn't. Since I hadn't added sound I decided to add 3 Z letters to represent him sleeping. I changed it frame by frame so when it changes and doesn't look the same and this makes it look like he is continually sleeping.
The next bit of this scene is when the teacher shouts his name and since there is no sound I yet again do it in a speech bubble to represent the speech. In the background I add the England flag because it is there wallpaper for he classroom and it also lets people know that it is in England. I did the chalkboard longer than the canvas so that I can tween it and give it a parallax effect with it to add more depth to his movement. On the Chalkboard I done a green radial gradient and then I added some equations and words so that it looked like it had gone through the lesson and it looked like he was teaching.
This was the last main scene because I didn't have a lot of time left so I decided that it would be better that I skip some scenes and get to the best scene and I was gonna have change this from an animation to a trailer. Overall this was gonna be at least 5 minutes long but because there is not enough time it has been reduced to a little more than a minute and .also I had to skip many scenes. For this scene I started to create weapons with different designs because I wanted them to look unique and powerful so when I did the coloring I added a glow so that they look like they are really strong. I created 5 weapons a massive ninja star, dual daggers, a massive drag-sword, a bow with 3 arrows (inspiration from runaan's huricane) and finally a battle axe that I coped and pasted so that there were 4 copies and gave one for each of the enemies.
To get the inspiration for the background of the final battle I looked at Google pictures of pyramids and then I looked at them and instead of putting the pyramids massive I made them small because they are meant to be far in the distance. When making the sky and the sand for the desert I made a massive rectangle and then split it with lots of different shades of the yellow and for the sky lots of shades of blue. For the skeletons I traced of over a side view of a skeleton and then I added all the details in such as bones. For the characters that I had made all of the characters are different to what they were meant to look like from when you see them at the school scene which is not shown in the trailer. One of the guys is a stick man because the curse that gets him turns him into a stick man.
After this when I created the scene I added this blue bar and I added the words and a small arrow to show what move they are choosing. For this scene I wanted to add numbers and make the enemies look like they are vibrating when they are getting hit but I was very short on time so I made sure that I finished the scene. And then was gonna add it although there wasn't enough time. I made the frames with massive frames therefore I could frame by frame and tween there attacks and then get rid of the extra frames. I made it so that when they choose the attack it takes a second for them to pick there move. I did this to make it look like a RPG game and to give it that effect.
After this I made the credits and I made a clapper-board saying coming soon and produced by myself. I animated it dropping with a small bounce. I traced the outline for the design and I got the diagonal lines at the top wrong so I just went with the flow and just carried on and colored it black and really light grey and for the main board I colored it a darker grey. I used a transition for a text box and put coming soon...
